Out with the Good, In with the Better!

2013 was by far the best year that Isaac and I have every had. Hmmm... I wonder why? Duh! Our beautiful baby Laila was born.  She has been such a joy to have in our family, and in a strange way it has brought Isaac and I closer together. We understand each other a little more and we have seen the good the bad and the ugly from each other. (the ugly is coming from mostly me postpartum).

Isaac graduated this last year and we have been blessed with Isaac's new job. He loves it which make it a wonderful atmosphere when he gets home each day. We love our apartment and feel fortunate to be close to family and friends. I was able to finally finish school. I am studying again from the Praxis so that hopefully I can pass it this time and be a certified teacher.

We were also lucky enough to have another little boy join our family with the birth of my nephew Bradley Wayne Hightower. I am sad because I haven't seen him yet, but so excited to go for a visit at the end of the month. From what I have seen in pictures, he's pretty adorable.

I love being a mom. But man is it hard and exhausting. And she doesn't even walk or crawl yet. But through this journey I have learned to seriously "Enjoy the Journey". I have loved every single stage that Laila has been through. I never once have said, "I can't wait until she can..." I want to cherish every moment I have with her and that exact stage.

Right now she is rolling all over the place and she can sit up all by herself. At 6 months she already has her first tooth that popped through on New Year's Eve. She eats foods like: avocado, mango, apples, green beans, peas and carrots, and bananas.I love making her baby food from scratch too. She nurses pretty well now which has always kinda been difficult for us, but she is a healthy baby girl with so much in store for her.

I have some goals for this year just as most do.
1. Document more of our life together. ie, blog more often, and take more pictures (not just of Laila)
2. Develop an organized home where we can feel the spirit continuously.
3. Teach Laila the Gospel of Jesus Christ by being a good example.
